Cadets from the Lackland Cadet Squadron began arriving five hours prior to the launch of the Fiesta Flambeau Parade, downtown San Antonio. The Cadets rendezvoused at the Lackland Squadron, completing a final uniform and equipment inspection and practice before leaving for their singated spot within the parade grounds. Prior to the final practice, the Cadets in the Color Guard worked though weeks of practice, the Cadets in the Color Guard worked though weeks of practice, before this major event. The Color Guard consisted of five Cadets, which was commanded by C/Amn Mary Helen Garcia, joined by C/SrA Colleen Rojas, C/AB Damian Moulder, C/Amn Nicole Miglis and C/AB Robert Cockrell. After completing their inspection, the Cadets converged on downtown San Antonio, where they joined thousands who were to be in the parade. After finding their position, the cadets stood by, waiting for the go signal. Promptly at 7PM, the signal was given, and the Cadets began marching on the 3 mile parade, which was to be viewed by well over 500,000 citizens of San Antonio. Behind the Color Guard was a detail, also from Lackland which held C/TSgt Tasha Henderson and C/AB Donald Kowalewski whom were marched by C/CMSgt Gus Rojas. C/Maj Paul Rojas and C/AB Nicholas Burgess served by passing water to Cadets, when needed. The event was a huge success, and the Lackland Squadron will look forward to marching in next year's parade.
