  Individuals interested in joining must do so through one of our 1,500 local units. Vist several units before you decide which one is best for you. You can find a unit near you by going to the Civil Air Patrol Unit Locator at www.cap.gov. To get to the locator directly, just type http://cap.findlocation.com/. You may also call our toll-free membership information hotline, 800-FLY-2338, to receive a list of units in your area.
  To become a CAP cadet, applicants must be 12 to 18 years old. To become a Senior Member, one must be at least 18 years old.
  An applicant must be a citizen of the United States of America or one of the following: a) an alien lawfully admitted for permantent residence to the United States of America and its territories and possessions or b) any lawfully admitted noncitizen residing in the United States specifically approved by the National Commander's designee. For the protection of our cadets, prospective adult members must undergo a routine fingerprint screening.
  Annual membership dues are broken are broken down into three levels: National, wing/region and squadron. National dues are $35 for seniors and $25 for cadets. Wing/region dues as well as squadron dues vary. Please check in your area for exact amounts.

When you join CAP, you may occasionally work alongside military members, but you ARE NOT a member of the military and will not incur any type of military obligation.
